CHRISTIAN DIOR: COUTURIER DUVE

MUSÉE DES ARTSCORATIFS

“Paris is couture. Couture is Paris.”

- Christian Dior

I have been privileged to be invited to the Opening Gala of ”Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve” at the Musée des arts décoratifs in Paris. The exhibition opens today and will conclude 5th January, 2018.

Spanning the entire three thousand square metres of the Museum of Decorative Arts, Florence Müller and Olivier Gabet takes us on a journey of the Christian Dior house in a chronological and thematic path.

Marking the house’s 70th anniversary, the all encompassing exhibition invites the viewer to discover the world of Christian Dior; the founder and its renowned couturiers: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and recently Maria Grazia Chiuri

With an in-depth collection of illustrations, sketches, iconic photographs, magazine covers, fashion accessories, perfumery bottles and over three hundred haute couture dresses created from 1947 to the present day, ”Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve” immerses the senses, tells Dior’s story and define how ‘Paris’ and ‘Couture’ aren’t interchangeable.

Below is only a selection of the three hundred and fifty over photos taken of the exhibition. And after spending over two hours revelling in couture, the house’s rich history and collection of artworks that inspired Dior and his couturiers, do take your time to absorb the colour, the craftsmanship and splendour in this slideshow.
